What is in a name?

Imagine if you could not, in fact, give your child whatever you wanted. In some cases, this might be a good thing...I am not convinced the geniuses naming their kids Anakin and Gandalf should be allowed to procreate in the first place. If the person you most want to honor by naming your child after them is a fictional character...you have social interaction issues.

Of course, it could be worse...you could get your daughters' name rejected because you want to name her after one of the worst bands in history....a thing I find hard to understand. What girl wouldn't want to be named Metallica?

Jimmy Hoffa ain't got nothin' on soccer fan

It is a long held belief by many people that former Teamsters boss Jimmy Hoffa was "buried" in the cement under Giants Stadium or somewhere under the turf. So well known is this story that in one Simpsons episode the Springfield Mafia buries a guy under the turf of their local stadium...and the outline of the body sticks high enough above the turf that it trips a player. We all "got" the joke.

Soccer fan studies his history. So when Scottish soccerfan was working on Englands famous Wembley they decided to do their own Hoffa. So they buried Scottish gear under various portions of the stadium. Because, you know, having your scarve under the goalposts will make your players more talented and less Beckham-like...

And coming down the far turn, cricket takes the lead

Ah, yes. In the ever-spiraling circle of competition cricket fan saw himself falling behind. Oh, sure, he made a half-hearted attempt to take the lead in the "Lame Act of Fandom" sweepstakes by offering to sell a kidney in order to be able to watch the games but soccerfan and Trekky Nation easily eclipsed that weak attempt. But never fear, cricketfan will not go gently into that long quiet night.

They are back in the news and better than ever. Seems Ireland is considered a "minnow". I will be the first to admit I am not up to date on cricket insults but it is apparent that is equal to being "pointless team included so the good teams would have a team to crush before they play their serious competition.

Well, Pakistan was set up to play the minnows...and something happened. Something bad. Something unbelievable, unconscionable, and unforgivable.

So Pakistani cricket fan decided to show A) how he felt about the team's performance and B) soccer fan ain't gotten nuthin on cricket fan.

So they did they only thing they could...they strangled the coach. (allegedly)
