Today's theme is..."Fun"

Every so often I will eat at a theme restaurant. Properly done they are great. Improperly done...well, people always say if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. Normally I ignore that advice...

As an example of a theme restaurant done right one could look at the local Pizza Schmizza chain. Their theme is kitsch. There are apparently random bits of Americana...an old bike, a few pages from a JC Penney catalog, a bottle cap collection...you never know what will be on the wall or glassed into the tables. There is even one where the table is one of those old sit-down video games designed for 2 people.

I suspect the chain is popular more for the "feel" of the place than for the food...not that reheated pizza isn't a great idea but...well...FRESH pizza usually tastes better. Just sayin'.

Anyhow, if theme restaurants are popular, what will be the next great theme? I imagine a place where you could throw darts at the pictures of Presidents past and current would do well. Or one where you could throw darts at random wastes of human flesh...the pseudo celebrities who are famous for their extreme retardation like Paris Hilton, Star Jones, etc., people with no appreciable talent whom I have still heard of. Darts, flamethrowers...it would be a popular restaurant. In fact, there is probably only one theme that would be more popular.

How fun would it be to make a terrorist them restaurant? You could have camo netting on the walls, hang guns and grenades and bomb-making materials, name your sandwiches things like Kalashnikov or Rocket-propelled Grenade and so forth.

I can really only see one problem with it. You might get sued for copyright infringement because as good as the idea is...Yousef Ibrahim beat you to it.

Mommy, mommy, can I ride that?

I love amusement parks. Emily and I have discussed future plans for visits to a variety of them. Of course, for me it is mostly about the rides, not the ambience. No matter how big a fan I might be of the Warner Bros. cartoons (and the answer is A HUGE ONE), if a park had the Warner Bros characters running around, Bugs Bunny themed restaraunts, Yosemite Sam themed shows, but the rides stunk I still wouldn't go.

I have been around people who were the opposite. They loved going into the shops, getting autographs from the characters (why is a Goofy autograph from some high school kid working a summer job in a super hot Goofy costume more "authentic" than one I write myself?) and enjoying the experience.

Well, now we have the perfect amusement park for everyone. Well, maybe not everyone...I really can't tell you what rides the park has. Or restaraunts. Or what type of shows. But what I can tell you is the amusement parks greatest claim to fame; this Chinese Theme park claims to have built the World's Largest Penis. If that ain't family fare I don't know what is...

and man, I WISH I was making this up...

Lets wrap this topic up, shall we?

Sometimes there is a news story so awesome I really have nothing to ad. For example, a grocery chain so desperate to reduce waste thast it hires an "anti-packaging tsar" then goes out and individually packages...wait for it...apricots. What, the grape wrapper was busy that week? Can you wrap these raisins for me? How about sunflower seeds?

Lol
