I really wonder who the sheeple are who are swayed by such things. I can only imagine the deep, scintillating conversation that leads them to cast their votes.
"Did you consider the stand of the candidate on issue x?"
Yes, I spent hours reviewing not just his statements, but also his voting record and where he sourced them from.
Did you consider the views of his opponent?
Yes, I spent slightly less time investigating him because early research showed my preconceived assumptions were true.
And what other evidence did you consider in choosing who to vote for?
Other potential candidates, what issues were most likely to newly arise during the term, how he was likely to respond, how likely he was to respond back to constituents who took the time to write, and where the financing for the campaign originated.
It definitely sounds like you did your due diligence. But instead of voting for the candidate from your party who espouses mostly the same views you do, you voted for the opposition. Why?
HIS CAMPAIGN COLORS WERE RED WHITE AND BLUE. IT WOULD BE UNAMERICAN NOT TO VOTE FOR HIM BECAUSE HE HAD THE RIGHT COLORS.
Really? Do sheeple actually vote for candidates because they use red, white and blue for their name and slogans?
And if so...if it is a state election...say for governor...are you erring in choosing the LESS patriotic candidate ig one uses state colors and the other national?
Aieee, what a conundrum...do I vote for Tweedledum who has the red, white and blue of the American flag...or Tweedledumber who has the blue and yellow of the Oregon State flag? (Did you even know those were the state colors? Did you care?
It is a sign of the banality of this countries politics that, as well has having only one party (is there REALLY a marked difference? really? with both parties running up unimaginable deficits, expanding the role of the Federal government at the expense of individual choice, going with the 'living document" construction of the Constitution so long as it is their preferred outcome and screaming about it when their ox is getting gored, every candidate seems to use red, white and blue for their campaign.
Show some originality and intellect...oh, wait, you are a politician. Too late. I should not have brought it up. Sorry about that, chief.*

Can't forget the ever popular "I'm not a Washington insider".
Yes, it is redundant, unfortunately :(
Never mind the state colors...did you know the state dance is the square dance? I wish I was making this up!
