Lot of truth to it. That is one reason lotteries were outlawed...then the states started running them. Think they aren't corrupt? Look into the Oregon "winner" who won a Wheel of Fortune rip-off...err, inspired game, was awarded the prize verbally, his family got excited, started jumping up and down, the ball fell out of the slot, and the officials ripped the prize from him. Yeah, nothing hokey there....
Anyhow, keeping the side-track shorter than usual, we will continue with the original point.
The government hates competition. And they have their sticky little fingers in every pie. Let's go through a few charities and see why I don't want to donate to them (again).
Food bank: Seems like a good cause, right? People are hungry, let's get them food. Well, I already gave. Unwillingly, perhaps, but I gave. The government ripped money from me, decided where it should go, and elected it should go to a bunch of non-working stiffs under the guise of welfare. I have first-hand experience with watching how people abuse it. And yes, the stories of people rolling up in their Cadillacs to collect their welfare money are true. And as a certain recent high-profile Octuplets case illustrated, plenty of people take a lot of pride in abusing it.
In short, you want help eating? I have already given a nice percentage of my check to help you so leave me alone.
Alzheimer's research: Sounding like a broken record, sounds like a good cause, right? Old people forget stuff, let's get them cared for. Well, I already gave. Unwillingly, perhaps, but I gave. The government ripped money from me, decided where it should go, and decided it should go to a lot of older people as "social security" in an expanded version of the (illegal for everyone except the government) Ponzi scheme. If you could not tell, I am not a fan of social security, which is, by definition, always in deficit since the first generation of recipients broke the rule of TANSTAAFL (Pronounced "tan-staff-el") or "There ain't no such thing as a free lunch" by getting something for nothing. So now the government takes money from me to give to people who used their money to pay for other people who had their money ripped to pay for other people...Well, when the Alzheimer's people come calling, guess what? I gave at the office. Literally.
And so forth.
Almost any charity you can name, I already gave. And that includes a lot I would NEVER willingly give to, and that one is not said tongue in cheek. I heartily resent having my money go to evil, evil outfits like Planned Parenthood, responsible for the murder of thousands of innocents. But I have no choice in the matter. I heartily resent paying for nut jobs like Pelosi to spend 60K + a week to fly back and forth to DC. And so forth.
Well, since the government has already chosen where my charitable contributions will go, I fail to understand why they don't just outlaw the competition. I believe they should. Now. Before I take a bell, shine that thing up real nice, turn it sideways and shove it straight up the ringer's candy...oh, doorbell. Be right back.

Pony up some more for stem cell research, Darth. You can refuse if you want to spend some time in jail.
Sorry, Darth, this guy set up a blogger account just to harass all of us.
When you write blogs like this I just can't believe it. You think my work should shut down?
Sorry, Stalking Kitty, opened this blogger account months and months and months ago!
Do you have any solid points to refute Darth's points? No, yet you still won't agree with his solid logic.
Hmmmm.
Conflict of interest clouding judgment of yours.
I thought I was being clear about it being more or less tongue in cheek except for the planned parenthood/pelosi bits when I identified them as such.
Clearly I was not clear enough. Despite the underlying truth that the government needs to stop trying to control every aspect of peoples lives and determine morality where the loudest mouths are while giving no source for such authority, the post was meant to be funny. Except, as stated, the bits NOT said tongue in cheek about PP and P. *sigh* tone is so hard to write.
I feel like such an idiot! I am sick today and spaced out, so I obviously missed the punchline...sorry Darth!
