Workplace injuries

In light of many recent news articles regarding dangerous and even deadly workplace incidents, this seems like a good time to point out a few things you should consider before taking your next job.

I guess the first and most obvious would be mines. How many mining tragedies do we have to have in just one year before we re-examine how mines are constructed, worked...and whether they are even necessary? Whether it is 1 person, 1 dozen, or 2000, it seems like the number of people getting trapped by mine cave-ins lately really makes me wonder if there is purpose to it at all. Maybe we can find alternatives...better, cleaner, cheaper fuels...accepting that cubic zirconium is just fine and less dangerous than a diamond...and so forth.

But there are other injuries people suffer, too, that are also preventable. For example, many copier-related injuries could be avoided if they would just create one dedicated to taking pictures of butts. No, it has never been clear to me why people feel it necessary to take photocopies of their butts, but they do...so we could avoid numerous injuries simply by having proper equipment.

Other common yet preventable injuries are equally preventable. How hard would it be to avoid physical injury simply by not dressing up as a tomato and having our Lord Mayor attempt to leap-frog us but fail, kicking us in the head and keeping us from work?

At least one...
