The long, drawn-out process of writing the story of J'red, Trillian, and their friends has long had a problem. I had the beginning, the end, and most of the middle, but there was one key factor missing. Today, randomly, out of the blue, it came to me.

See, the Nameless One, while a dragon, does not appear in the first book. And dragons are key to the series. Yet in the entire first book, no dragon ever directly appears...only indirect references.

Meanwhile, Busa Hitada needs a bargaining chip against the Nameless One in order to return home. Who could give him such a chip?

Yes...a dragon.
