Back in the "Golden Age" of the Simpsons the end of Season...7? I think it was...it closed with the shooting of Mr. Burns. One primary motive was his installing the Sun Blocker to regulate when the town would have the energy of the sun and when it wouldn't.
While it was written as a larf the truth is a serious issue was examined by the episodes (the conclusion was the first show of season 8) over who "owns" the air. If you own a 2 acre parcel of land, how far into the sky belongs to you?
And if your neighbor chooses to erect a building will it's potential interference with established sight lines of perceived natural beauty restrict him from doing so?
I have actually read of neighbors who fought over whether newly built structures were legal due to their blocking the view of long-established homeowners of mountains, rivers, etc.
But they never shot the offending building before...
