There is something quite disconcerting about...

You know, on the bright side, I have that most treasured of things in corporate America...a window seat. A corner cubicle looking out on the world as I work. Of course, exactly WHY this is such a treasured location eludes me just as much now that, through no fault or effort of my own, I have one, as it did before I got one.
You see, sitting by a huge pane of glass has interesting side-effects. During the summer I spend half the day blind as I try to fight past the strong, strong sunrays to see my computer screen...so actually, the blinds are closed most of the time anyway. And when they are open all I see are two buildings...the first, a two tone blue building of sheet metal. It was not designed to be two toned...after some panels had color fade, several blew off and they replaced them with much, much darker panels. It looks as stupid as it sounds. Of course, the pebble-rock walled square next to it is no beauty either...so the scenery is hardly inspiring.
And during the winter, the cold outside sucks all my body warmth with it...so really, sitting in the corner cubicle was, location wise, a major step backwards in my humble yet accurate opinion. However, the Junior Woodchuck Guidebook says to shut up and do your job, so I do. After all, who in their right mind complains about a window seat?
And, yes, I heard most of you saying, "Who told this guy he is in his right mind?"
Still, there is something quite disconcerting about looking out the window at rain pouring down as hard as it can and watching a firetruck go by. Uhm...there are floods in the low-lands, how exactly did something catch fire? Was the Torch flying by on his way to make a sequel and decide someone needed some warmth in their life? Was Timmy playing with matches again and Lassie busy elsewhere? Or maybe it is a new kind of fire that only burns water...any way you look at it, when it is pouring down rain, the next to last thing you want to see is a firetruck. The last thing is probably your umbrella under its tires.
