Now THAT is a reaction!

I have been working int he warehouse for something over a year now. Starting this past Monday, due to massive injury issues, I have been working at my correct, proper job.

One thing that is amazing about it is several people who know I am still there have consistently, almost every time they called in, asked if I was available. One of the ladies who answers the phone came to my desk to tell me that after she put him through to me, he called back to ask if I was back permanent and talk about how great it was.

I would be lying if I did not admit that felt really, really good.

Monday being a "holiday" (if you are a government leech, anyway), we did not get a lot of calls. But today more and more people were calling in and I was getting a larger and larger percentage of people asking for me. But best of all was this conversation.

"Thank you for calling (censored), this is Drew, can I help you?"
several seconds of silence.
Him: "Hoooooollllllyyyyyy shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii....yes! We have been asking (censored) when they were going to bring you back inside. Please tell me it is permanent!"

Again, I would be lying if I did not admit my head swelled a little bit. That is the reaction I have always sought. I want my absence to mean something. I want people to prefer speaking with me because I provide better and friendlier service.

Nothing against the people I work with...I love the other people in sales.

But I want to be the best at pretty much everything I do.

I think I succeed pretty well. Case in point; while I was in purgatory...err, the warehouse, I was struggling to get 35 hours a week, and even getting there meant doing a lot of extra, dirty jobs like cleaning the aisles. Nobody else was getting over 37 or 38 hours either, and the cows had sore teats because that required some massive milking.

While I have been inside, there have been upwards of 5 people saying they worked 12 hour days Monday.

Maybe it was just busier.

Since I saw what was written up...I have my doubts.

What I do know is that the job I am doing now, which is what I should have been back doing months ago, is one I am doing so well that when people realize I am back inside, several have told me they plan to ask for me exclusively.

That is a mixed blessing. I do not want to take any work from my friends in sales...

But it feels really, really good to know that customers appreciate what i do and to know, without the shadow of a doubt, that I am great at what I do.

Well, it should feel good! And you should hopefully be there to stay. I'd go for back pay next.

I've been away from you for too long because my first thought was naughty.

Congrats on getting back to where you should have been in the first place.
