For the most part, I have been pretty neutral towards Obama. It is blatantly obvious that his economic policies are going to be every bit as devastating long-term as those of his hero FDR, but that can perhaps be overlooked due to A) the positive effect of having a black President so far as race issues go and B) I was quite irritated by the W abuses of the Constitution.
Though people try to deny the truth, this country fought the War of Independence based on religious principles held by the leaders. Ironically, with my well-known belief that it is not possible to be a Christian and take part in warfare, there are a lot of questions raised by that which might be the basis of a fun post.
Be that as it may, the first law of the land, the Articles of Confederation, failed miserably. Yet the Constitution was on the verge of not being adopted. People wanted put into righting the rights they possessed not due to government but that were given them by God...and for proof, look back to during the Revolutionary War when this was written.

This of course is from the Declaration of Independence.
Well, when Bush made attacks on the Constitution, particularly some of the spying on his own people stuff, in some ways it was an attack as well on the Declaration. The chance that those policies might be reversed had some very positive potential that might out-weigh his economic policies.
However, there are some things that I do not accept at all.
Abortion in any form is murder. This is not something I see any dispute possible. Jeremiah 1:5 explicitly states, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, And before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations."
While it is explicitly from God to Jeremiah, the principle is obvious and not to be overlooked. God knows us even before we are conceived. Other Scriptures confirm this, such as passages where God speaks about knowing various people who were still "in their fathers' loins". This is blatantly and obviously prior to conception.
Of course, many people choose not to believe in God and as such think that means He does not exist and His laws are not a valid baseline. Interesting.
So if I say I do not believe Obama exists, does that mean any acts he makes are things I don't have to follow? Ridiculous concept. Whether I choose to or not to believe in his existence in no way affects whether he does or does not exist. If I violate a law he enacts because I do not believe he exists, I am still subject to the penalties that will come my way should that fact come to the attention of the authorities.
God is different. He is more powerful. Also, since He created the world, His wishes are not negotiable.
So if God knows people before they are even conceived, obviously He considers them to be people. Thus abortion is, by definition, murder and, as a baby has done nothing for good or ill, it is murder of the innocent.
As such, one litmus test I have is where a candidate stands on abortion. Admittedly, I seldom vote for any mainstream candidate. But most assuredly I have never knowingly voted for anyone who would condone, support, or do less than their utmost to stop the murdering of babies.
The hard truth is those people are getting harder and harder to find.
But Obama turns out to be worse than most. He not only actively pushes abortion, he also admires the murder of babies who survived botched abortions and pushes to make sure they are given no chance.

Jill Stanek is a name people should have heard. I did not hear it during the election, largely because I had heard more than enough to disqualify either McCain or Obama long before she would have come to light but she is someone people SHOULD have heard of.
Obama is becoming known as being disingenuous at best over this issue and, well, to use his words, Well and because they have not been telling the truth. And I hate to say that people are lying, but here's a situation where folks are lying.
Well, he flat out lied about is position as can be seen by various of the links posted above and here. On the bright side, we also now know he doesn't really understand safety. When women seek unsafe abortions, they are too late. Abortion is pretty unsafe for the baby being murdered. As a general rule it is lethal, which is about as unsafe as something can get.
Well, knowing he was far more active in not just not objecting to abortion but in promoting the most immoral, evil version of it, it quickly became obvious that he is an evil, evil man who takes pride in it.
That left me two choices; ignore it as I mostly do with his financial issues, or say something.
There is a difference. While I disagree with his financial policies and, assuming history repeats itself, know my children's children will be paying ever-increasing tabs for it, I don't necessarily think of them as evil, simply bad, bad choices.
On the other hand, his immoral agenda in regards to abortion is far too evil to pass up. As it says in Ephesians 5:11, Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them, I have a responsibility to say something.
And his weak, weak, weak defense that "not everyone believes the same" is so unbelievably stupid as to hardly be worth mentioning. If that was true, how can he push anything? Based on what authority? How can anything be considered worthy of being held as right or wrong? Forced health insurance, for example. Not everyone believes that is a good idea or even right, so where does he get the right to push it? What higher authority is there than the God he gives lip service to believing in?
There is a warning for Obama and those like him; Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter, from Isaiah 5:20.
Well, if he wants to call evil good and force it on us, so be it. I will call evil where I see it and that is a very public, prominent example of an evil man regardless of what else he does.

I may disagree with most of this, but I have to say it is disappointing that all politicians seem to lie when it's convenient.
I respect the fact that you have an opinion and convictions, instead of being wishy-washy. Too many people sit on the fence.
Abortion is never easy. Not for anyone involved. And for those who may question, no I have never had one. But I do know lots of people who have. Though I may disagree with their choices, I still love them. And I will always stand by a person's right to choose. I do not think getting an abortion is right, but I will not let how I feel effect what people think is right for them.

I always find it interesting how people turn to the "woman's right to choose" defense. Yes, clearly we need to protect the one choice to destroy a life, rather than the trillions of choices the child would make were it to live. That is truly a "pro-choice" stand.
