Kind of makes it hard to go to church, eh?

Well, we were going to go to church. We were trying to decide which one. We considered several but the one in the lead was The Church of Christ's Resurrection, in the central Russian village of Komarovo. This beautiful 2 story brick building was built in 1809. Sitting in a remote section of Russia, it has many charms. 

Visiting it has many charms. There is only one slight, insignificant problem. However, that problem might be big enough to keep us from visiting. 

No, not the distance. Not the traveling expense. Not the fact my culinary tastes do not mesh well with those of Russians. Not my lack of passport. 

The problem is simple; someone stole the church...
