And they say people take games too seriously

From time to time regular readers of this blog may have detected an occasional post dealing with dumb criminals. Of course, as a general rule, they are criminals who make poor plans for how to get away after a crime or leave subtle clues to their identity...like their bank information, drivers license, or are robbing a local store without a disguise.

On the bright side, they are generally trying to steal something of value.

But what about that OTHER class of criminals. You know the ones...the murders. Take the case of the Japanese piano teacher lady who killed her ex-husband and is facing 5 years in jail and a fine of $5000.00. If I knew murder was so cheap I might have taken it up for a career.

Of course, the really funny about this is that the threat of jail and fine are real. The murder, however, was virtual...it took part in one of those online massively multi-player "my life is no good and I am such a bad player I even get divorced in virtual life" monstrosities...

What a great story she can tell someday. Maybe they will be sitting around chatting about how they got their first prison term.

"I robbed a bank. Would have got away with it if my ex-wife wasn't the teller."
"I beat my wife to death with a toaster oven after she refused to make a sandwich for me. I had no other choice."
"I virtually killed my virtual ex-husband in a virtual game."

Nice work, lady. Enjoy your new career making license plates. Hope it was worth it.
