Bob & Ray

As a general rule Mom was pretty smart. Every now and again, though, she would unleash some bizarre comment that got you wondering what she was thinking at any given moment.

For example, once Da, Mom and I were listening to a record by two comedians named Bob & Ray. One of the short pieces between the longer ones was titled Non-Sequiter Part I. Later came Non-Sequiter part II. Of course, anyone who knows the meaning of Non-sequiter knows part II makes no sense. The very idea of a "not following" piece is it is stand-alone.

But Mom said, out of the blue, "That did not follow the previous non-sequiter at all."
