Cingular, ATT, Regal, and many others warn you...

I actually find it a bit annoying. I nip into the cinema to catch a flick and find ad after ad telling me the same thing. Forrest Whitaker does some cheesy self-help seminar rip-off complete with Spanish translator so Cingular can tell me to turn off my phone. Then AT&T thanks me for my courtesy in turning off my phone. Then Regal thanks me for turning off my phone.

I guess I would be less annoyed if not for the fact that some yutz will be sitting their texting away anyway. So the warnings are pretty pointless.

But it is getting worse. At least one church I attend fairly regularly has "Please turn off your cell phone" on the overhead, then the minister will make a similar announcement. And still for the last 3 weeks someone has had their phone go off during the service.

You see, a large percentage of the population thinks, "Oh, that doesn't apply to me. My ring tone is so cool that nobody will mind if it goes off."

For example, take the Australian dude in court. He knew nobody would mind when his 20 second ring tone of a woman having an orgasm went off while the case was being heard...
