Dealing with addiction

Society today offers every excuse a person can have for addiction. I had a pretty good laugh Sunday when the church Em & I attended listed their classes...including one dealing with "sexual addiction". Let's be honest for a second. A lot of things now classed as "addictions" are nothing but things psychiatrists and psychologists have convinced people are areas where they do not need to exercise self-control...whether alcohol or sex or shopping or...well, you get the picture. For most of history if people had anti-social urges they exercised self-control lest they face the wrath of the system. Nowadays if someone wants to do something they just claim it is an addiction. Yeah, whatever.

Fortunately, He Ling has come up with a way to deal with at least one addiction. He's husband, Jiang Ming, was "addicted" to the Internet. One day she found a way to deal with it.

"I was on the internet, and suddenly .... The arrow on the screen stopped moving." These are the words of a man overcoming his Internet addiction with the help of his wife who, to help him exercise self-control, cut off his hand.

My guess is that will get the job done.
