Sometimes the Headline is more entertaining than the story

The story starts off horribly enough...you might think you are reading an in-depth look at mob violence and stupidity or something. The victim had her head taken off with a circular saw.

At this point you might expect me to write something thoughtful and insightful about violence and brutality. Not to disappoint you, but...not gonna happen today. No, this story is not so much about the victim(s)...it is more me mocking people. Yeah, I know...big surprise.

The second victim also died from a circular saw to the neck. And it was apparently self-inflicted. So what we have is two dead people, one with her head cut off with a circular saw, the other job not finished since he died while doing it.

Sadly for people like me, this seems to prevent no room for comedy. Happily for people like me, the news editor chose this headline:

California Man Cuts Off Mom's Head With Saw, Dies Trying to Cut Off His Own


Now, many of you may not see humor in this...but frankly I need a new keyboard, having spit copious amounts of Mt. Dew on my old one upon first reading that line. This was hard to do since A) I have not had any Mt. Dew for weeks and B) I wasn't drinking anything at the time. But I did it anyway.

Here is my question; if he was trying to cut off his own head and died before he completed it...did he still achieve his goal?
