Big Brother is watching you...and now he wants to swab your mouth

Way back when, many socially conscious individuals objected to the state starting to get involved in marriages. Of course, the state's defense was that they were only "recording" them...of course, soon they began requiring fees and now you can't get married without state authorization. Oh, and since the state authorizes the marriage, the state has control over it and can, if desired, force the dissolution of it if desired, and even more insidious...because the state sponsors and authorizes the marriage, are you aware they also claim the rights to your children? Parents are now merely wards.

This immoral and heavy-handed attack on marriage was done under the guise of record keeping was predicted and, of course, came true.

Fast forward a few decades and we come upon the institution of the social security number. The "extremists" forewarned that it would be used to track and maintain information. Not so, said the government, it will NEVER be used for identification purposes or to track information.

Uh...yeah. Good one. As we all know, the SS # is never used for identification purposes (obtain a passport, credit card, marriage license, job, drivers license, or anything without one...go ahead, I dare you....)

Fortunately, we have all learned our lesson. When the state gets involved in something they never go overboard, never take control of things that are none of their business, never abuse the information at their disposal...(editor's note; if you do not recognize the sarcasm intrinsic to the previous sentence you need to study up on history a lot better).

So now New York wants to expand the DNA data base. Much like every other time the government wants to enhance their level of intrusion on people's lives it will be couched in helpful terms. And at some point various anecdotal evidences of ways people have been helped will be put forth to justify it. But behind the scenes you can be ensured that abuses will outnumber helpful instances.

This is in no way, shape or form anything that should do anything less than hold complete and utter terror for right-thinking people.

This is a scary, scary thing. Here is hoping the people of New York rise up and stop this before it gets out of hand.

I saw this and it was scary - because he's usually very pro-individual.
