How to start a ticklish conversation

There are certain conversations that need to be held that oft times people are uncertain how to start. For your edification, here are a few options:

1) The parent/child
Joey: "Mom, what is for lunch?"
Mom "We are having mac & cheese. It's quick and easy to make."
Joey: "Cool, I love mac & cheese. Can Johnny eat with us?"
Mom: "Sure, why not? Just as easy to make something for 2 kids that aren't mine as for 1."
Joey: "2? Who's visiting?"
Mom; "Nobody. You are adopted."


See how smooth that is? It just slips into the conversation and that awkward "how do I tell the kid he's adopted" thing is gone.

2) The newlyweds
Wife: "Wow, that wedding was fun."
Husband: "Sure was. And I am sure glad to be married to you."
Wife; "Yes, it is hard to believe this will be our first night together and our first time sleeping together."
Husband: "Yep, I am really looking forward to it."
Wife: "Just be careful. I don't want to hurt the baby"

Again, what could have been hard to find a way to bring up your pre-marital infidelity is suddenly a natural part of the conversation. Well done.

3) The long-weds
Wife: "I will be a little late getting home tonight. I am going to the beauty parlor."
Husband: "Okay, the later the better. I will try to have everything moved out by the time you get back."
Wife: "What stuff?"
Husband: "Mine, I have a new girlfriend."

I guess instead of long-weds I should have titled that one the "about to be unwed"

4) The "Does this make me look" question
Wife: "Honey, does this make me look fat?"
Husband: "Hard to say. I am just in awe of that wart on your face and really don't notice much else."

For years he has wanted to tell her about it and now he has a way.
