If a funeral occurs in the forest and noone comes is he still dead?

Remember that scene in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (or was it Huckleberry Finn?) where the boys are thought dead but they hide in the rafters and watch their own funeral? It was a pretty funny scene. Because, you know, death is pretty much always funny.

Imagine if it really happened...there was a funeral for someone who wasn't actually dead. And imagine if he showed up to see what people said about him. And only his Mom showed up for it...

Wouldn't it be hilarious if he planned the entire funeral, bribed the papers to print his death notice, purchased a casket and so forth?

Oh, wait...that happened.

And when nobody but his mom showed up he wrote a letter to all his "friends" chewing them out for not showing up after he went to all the trouble and expense of this elaborate death and funeral set-up.

Dude...hard to feel sorry for you. If you are the type of person who will fake their own death and funeral to see what people think of you then I am thinking you are a bit too high maintenance for me. Good luck with that.
