There are a lot of reasons kids fail in school. Sometimes it is a lack of individual attention. Sometimes it is because the kid does not, for whatever reason, apply himself. Sometimes it is due to standardized teaching that does not take individual learning methods into account.
Regardless of the reason, there are several ways this can be rectified. For example...
- the shool might engage in alternative teaching methods...
- the ratio of students to teachers might be adjusted (although, interestingly enough, I have seen a couple of studies indicating this has an inverse effect, bizarrely enough)
- the parents might become more involved in helping their child attain understanding of concepts being taught at the school.
But of course, these are all sub-optimal ways of dealing with the problem. The best way is to get a couple relatives and go beat up the principal.
As for the ban on cell phones in school...I mean really, why shouldn't he be on the phone? He clearly does not need the time to do his work...
