Over the last few years with the influx of technical people to work at places such as Intel, driving conditions have gotten worse and worse. When I started I could leave space between me and the guy in front of me, people knew what turn signals were, a yellow light meant stop, etc. Now any mortal so foolish as to leave 6" between his bumper and that of the car ahead of him will find some maniac swerving in, generally without benefit of a turn signal, and then gunning it through the yellow light, often followed by 2 - 3 more rigs. I have often considered ways to correct this such as...oh, I don't know, the Ham & Bacon Patrol actually enforcing laws regarding right of ways, reckless endangerment, leaving space, etc., but I am wrong. Germany has it right.
Just take down all the signs and eliminate all the rules! Yeah, that should work. Because, you know, people all care about each other and think it is more important to see that we are all courteous to each other.
