Parenting ain't easy

No matter how much quacks like pseudo-Dr. Phil, Oprah, Dobson, or other "experts" try to present themselves as having the answers we continue to find that each case is different and, amazingly, the parents typically do better jobs. On occasions they don't but...and this will be of deadly insult to many state workers and aficionados...it is better for the parents to make (alleged) mistakes than for the incompetents at government to occasionally get one right.

On the rare, extremely rare occasions when the government gets one right it gives them the idea they can interfere even more often. They screw up 99 kids, get one right and which one do you think gets held up as the example of why state interference is a good thing?

And England has the same problem.

Now, clearly this kid has some health issues. I find it interesting that the state has taken it upon themselves to decide what qualities he finds more important; a family life with people who love him but poor health or (theoretically) better health but living with non-related people more interested in his physical wel-being than his mental well-being.

It is entirely possible for the state to step in, correct his physical issues and destroy his happiness. But of course the morons in (all)government(s) know better what you want...and are going to give it to you no matter how much you tell them not to.

Certainly something to think about.

Thanks for writing about this...what the "experts" don't seem to get is that binge eating is a problem his parents can't fix. They don't seem to get that there may be a biological or psychological reason for this - they make it seem like his parents are saying, "Eat until you pop!" Like the government does a good job with kids anyhow.
