Those clouds are threatening

A while ago, I posted a few phrases I found...well...un poco banal. As a result, I have people asking if I would like a spanking, etc. Well, just to prove I don't learn from my successes, here we go again.
How many times have you heard someone say, ""Those clouds look threatening".
Now, from a logical point of view, I can only say you must think clouds are for appearance only. Threatening what? "If you don't wear your rain gear, you will catch cold."
"If you don't pay up, me & Brutus are gonna have to break your leg."
"If you guys don't stop fighting, we are going to turn this gravity around and hurtle you into space."
I mean, seriously...those clouds are "threatening"? News flash...clouds aren't ornaments. They carry moisture. Rain and snow is what they do. How about, instead of threatening, "those clouds look like accumulations of moisture transported from ground level into the sky with a probable return to earth through some form of precipitation."
It is hard to be "threatening" when you are just doing the only job you really have to do. Wait a second, a cloud is talking to me...
uh-huh...uh-huh...yeah....okay, I understand.
Okay, I am back. That cloud said if I keeppicking on them, they will strike me with lightning. At least that SOUNDS threatening.
