My interview with a Senator

Names have been changed to protect the integrity of this piece.
I had the opportunity earlier today to briefly interview a Senator who has recently pledged to not run for reelection when his term expires. I asked him why and his reply was revealing. He spoke of corruption in government. This in and of itself is neither surprising nor new, facts he acknowledged. I asked why he was stepping down. He told me of a recent rider attached to a bill that moved millions of dollars to subsidize a fast food industries' silverware production. The final words of our interview were the esteemed Senator saying, "I just can't support anymore spork barrel projects."
