Today's sign of intelligent life in the universe

I think the headline says it all:
"California ordered to improve its execution experience"

The headline might say it all, but that won't stop me from commenting. We DO REALIZE someone being executed is not exactly going to be filling out a comment form, right? This is not a tour, not a recreational event. You are, after all, KILLING someone here. Improve the experience?
Now, all comments on the morality of capital punishment here in this country due to, in my opinion, the miscarriage of justice of incompetent attorneys versus attorneys interested in win-loss records instead of justice, and setting aside my own personal belief that someone who tortures, rapes and kills someone in brutal and painful fashion should experience similar things on their way out the door...lets get real here.
There is a pill that puts a person to sleep. I, Captain Paranoid-of-Needles, was able to have some pretty intense work done and never noticed it. previously, teeth cleanings were too painful to handle. This tells me there is a very, very simple solution. You want to make an execution "a better experience"? Outside of not actually killing them, why not do something simple like this. Screw the "barbituates", screw the "cocktail", give them the pill that puts them to sleep. Yeah, that would work.
Still, that headline gets me. Not that death is ever (not) funny, but that was pretty hilarious.

This stuff is really starting to tick me off. Execution is not supposed to be comfortable. You are dieing because you comitted some heinous crime against humanity. Same with prison. You're in there because you are being punished for your crimes. Drew has made some good points about innocent people in prison, but you don't go easy on the guilty because you might (and probably will) make innocents uncomfortable as well.
