Quiet, genius at work

I was doing some preparation for the Mexico trip tonight. It was probably a poor choice since I was in the throes of some mental anguish due to what I think was an argument, although I did not want it to be and am sorry it was if it was. Still, I was deeply wounded mentally and that means it was probably a poor time to shop.
Be that as it may, after an hour or so of running around, I was hungry. Being me, I have very little food at my place right now but I did not want to eat out because of the expense.
Now, mind you, I don't order appetizers or dessert, drink pretty much water exclusively, and have very inexpensive tastes so I could probably eat for like 5 bucks. Or I could use the 20 dollar Chilis gift certificate I have in my pocket.
Or I could go shopping.
Since I was close to Haggens, an upscale (expensive) gorcery store, I elected not to go to the white trash unemployed welfare magnet I usually shop at, Winco (very much NOT an upscale store.)
I was going, of course, to make fajitas. But I will only use turkey. They had turkey...it was 3.99. The one I usually get is 1.59 or so. Oh, well, I will save 20 minutes and gas...it is worth it. I am still saving money over eating out.
Then I started wondering if I have cheese. I saw one for 2.59, so I picked that up. I thought I had cheese but really did not want to go out again. It would be cheaper than the gas, anyway.
So I moved towards the counter and suddenly wondered if I had tortilla shells. Hmm...I THINK so, but was not sure. Ch-ching, another buck and a half or so. But I have everything I need, I saved myself a trip, and I can probably stretch this into 2 meals.
Get up front to pay and realize I don't have a Haggen card so it actually came to almost 9 bucks. I had to laugh at myself....I could have easily eaten for that. Oh, well, live and learn. Serves me right for being cheap.
So I was driving home and it hit me...I think I used my last taco seasoning. So I ended up going to Safeway on the OTHER side of my place for that. And instead of the .49 cents I typically spend they banged me for a buck. Oh, and I ended up driving just as far as I would have if I had just gone to Redneck Central....errr, WINCO in the first place. Plus, instead of purchasing all this for 4.50, I spent about 10.00 AND it ended up taking me at least as long since I knew where nothing is.
But there is a bright finish. I got home and found that yes, I had cheese (3 kinds), shells, and 2 packets of seasoning. So at least the 3.99 for the turkey wasn't wasted...
