A brief Thanksgiving postlude

It was with some trepidation that I accepted an invitation to spend the holiday weekend with Jessica and her family. There were several reasons for my nervousness...my near legendary food pickiness, wanting to be around my family, my paranoid stance towards schoolwork, and just general shyness.
Yeah, I know...some of you are laughing your smurf off right now at that last line. I am loud, outgoing, etc., but in some situations it is very true. When I am not home or around primarily people I know quite well I am actually very shy. And it takes me quite some time to warm up to people.
Well, thanks in no small part to the generosity of Jessica & her family, the time frame moved up from leaving Thursday afternoon to Thursday morning. I think that is the second or perhaps even the first time I have not been around my Dad and some siblings for Thanksgiving. This is especially strange for me considering I will be in Mexico for Christmas...a trip I am obviously very much looking forward to...so I will not be around Dad or either brother for either of the 2 major holidays, although of course I will be around Deb & Gabe.
Anyway, this was obviously a new and, in some ways, stressful experience for me. I may have better than 30 years physically, but mentally in many ways I am closer to 15. Emotionally I am sure that is true in many ways. I do not deal well with being out of my comfort zone.
As it turned out, it was actually a lot of fun. I was able to spend some time with Jessica, always a plus, and also with her parents and also met one side of Grandparents. Some pretty cool people. Pinochle still confuses me.
Tried some other new things...like seeing a ballet, in this case the legendary Nutcracker.
Here is an intriguing thought. Porn movies are legendary for the "importance" of their "plot"...in other words, a few cheesy lines that may or may not have any relationship to each other that provide the "stars" an opportunity and some form of justification to have sex.
Ballets, at least based on this one, should be legendary for the importance of their plot...in other words, a few cheesy visuals that may or may not have any relationship to each other that provide the stars an opportunity and some form of justification to dance.
My feet still hurt from watching it. Makes me wonder if porn enthusiasts ever get strange spasms in their back from seeing positions the human body is not meant to twist into...
Anyway. It proved to be a beneficial, learning weekend. It was, of course, spoiled by needing to reread Kern's The Culture of Space and Time, a truly dense tome that was difficult to wade through the first time...but that really sped up the plane ride, so it kind of worked. I should post my paper up here so you, too, can feel the boredom.
Well, this long, rambling piece with only one joke included, is at an end. Thanks, as always, for reading.

Missed you at Thanksgiving. Not that I was there to see you anyway, but I missed the whole crew anyway. Will miss having you here for Christmas too. Hope you and the other two smurfs have fun.
