I come from a family where the guys all think we are funny. And, truth be told, Dad was extremely funny before diabetes and stress that shall not be discussed here warped and shredded his mind. On occasion he still rises up but it is no longer the consistent thing it was. Kenneth is streaky...sometimes he will go weeks without cracking a joke. Other times, he opens up and gets going...and when he does, he is hilarious. Phillip used to be too quiet but lately he has been opening up and he just keeps getting funnier and funnier.
Well, for a class project I worked with a group that had a very funny concept. Feeling a bit left out of the inner workings, two of us decided to do our own side project. I came up with an outline and away we went with the videocamera.
The event took place outside a place holding a rolling auction. And among the participants were Kenneth, Phillip, and Kevin of team Starving Crazed Weasels and also our friend James.
My idea for the opening went off first, and it was about as funny as I thought it would be...which was pretty funny. I had explained the concept to around ten people and every one of them laughed...the execution was fabulous also, so it really kind of worked.
Then we got to the interviews about how the Metropod had changed their life. Well, I must admit...sometimes I am not as funny as I think I am, and here is how I know.
I knew what was coming from Kenneth and still had laughter issues holding the camera steady. He was saying the most outrageous things and it was outstanding. So funny...
Kevin was strong too. Good lines, straight face, nice delivery...I was getting worried. Suddenly my rather humorous opening was the lamest part...
Then Phillip opened fire. Oh smurf...I totally lost it. I was laughing so hard the camera looked like it was in an earthquake, and he lost it as well. The concept was hilarious and the execution made the concept look lame. Easily one of the very funniest things I have ever seen. It was so funny it took us something like 5 or 6 takes to get through it without laughing.
I really thought that would NEVER be topped. But then James, out of the blue, came up with something that would have been the topper...except it was so funny we could not get a straight take inside the restaurant so we had to go outside. It still is one of the two funniest moments...and I laughed at all of them when I rewatched it later. So good.
The upshot is, I have a VERY funny group of friends and family who are quite gifted in comedic acting. This HAS to go somewhere. Now, if only I could figure out how to be as funny as them...

We are playing Summerfield. It is a pretty soft course, looks like a 116
