The Keystone Cops

Probably very few people are old enough to remember the Keystone Cops. In the early days of film they were a popular attraction wherein a group of cops stumbled and bumbled and engaged in pratfalls. For example, imagine a cop chasing a robber across a frozen pond. The thief blithely skims the surface. Following behind, the cop then breaks through the ice.

Now this in itself is funny but the Keystones would take it a step further. Several others would come to rescue her but would then break through the ice themselves and plunge in. Eventually, before they were rescued there would be upwards of 20 cops in the water. Or, if they were Hungarian police, rather than the Keystones, 30 of them...
