In honor of good service

We all know about the times we receive poor service, high prices, etc. But every so often someone or something comes along who does an outstanding job. That deserves recognition as well. This is a legitimately good story about such.


My beloved Mustang has had a problem for a couple months where the left rear tire would slowly leak air. Because it has the electronic pressure sensing system I was not supposed to use the fix a leak foam stuff so I didn't. The leak was really slow...I would only encounter the problem about once a month.

A couple days ago, just before my softball game where I discovered I still have enough talent to make the occasional spectacular play, it happened again...but this time when I stopped to air it up I saw the bright silver of a broken off screw...aha! There IS a problem.

Today I was off work with my wife so among the other errands we were running I took it to Les Schwab to be fixed and, while I was there, to get the tires rotated. He presented me an estimate...$11.22 for the repair, $5.75 for each tire to be rotated. To me, $34.22 would have been reasonable for the repair and another like charge would be reasonable for the tire rotation. I am not good at car repairs. So I felt pretty awesome about it being so cheap.

Off went the Goose and I to pick up some flowers for the front yard beds and around the mailbox and other sundry activities. At last we got back to Les Schwab tires. Unsurprisingly, my car was ready.

Surprisingly, to me, they charged me nothing for the repair or the tire rotation, just a friendly, "Come see us when you need a tire."

Let's review: when I pulled up, a friendly guy LITERALLY ran out to greet me, find out what was up. They did the work while I did errands. They charged me nothing.

There is a reason I NEVER go anywhere but Les Schwab for tires. And it is precisely because of this. I would have thought I was getting a great deal at 34 bucks. At nothing? And with cheerful, swift service where I felt valued as a customer?

Just thought I should pass on my appreciation for the excellent experience. Please...use Les Schwab for your tires. You won't be disappointed.

And no, they do not pay me for this. I just believe in telling about good service.
