I used to laugh a great deal at some of the idiots that moved out to St. Helens. It was especially noticeable with the explosion of high-tech employees with the Intel and similar plants in Hillsboro. Good jobs, good for the economy, and theoretically good for our combined intellect as highly trained, well-schooled individuals moved here to take these high-paying jobs.
And for whatever reason, St. Helens became a prime spot to move. Numerous housing developments were built to home the people who wanted to live "in the country" and still be 45 minutes or so from work. Good for them.
Except, of course, for the people who moved close to the fairgrounds. Seems they found something to complain about...namely, the noise from the car races.
Memo to newcomers. That race track has been there for over thirty years. It was there before your house started being built. How quiet did you expect the races to be? That is a ridiculous complaint if I ever heard one. That would be like moving into an apartment over a meat-cutters shop and then complaining about the noise when he was cutting meat and getting a court order to prevent him from doing so. Oh, wait a second...

Let me guess: this is in England?
I remember working near a town in California where there had been an airport for, I don't know, 30 years. And people who had just moved in to houses built AFTER the airport had been built held these ridiculous meetings, formed neighborhood association groups, etc., because they didn't like the airplane noise.
What a bunch of idiots!
