"This incident has not helped"

I have many fond memories of my recent wedding day...as, I am sure, do many other happy couples of things they said or did on their wedding day...of course, not everyone does the same things. The Goose and I danced and conversed with our guests, hugged and kissed each other a lot. Mark Allerton and Teresa Brown went a slightly different route, accusing each other of stuff, her whacking him on the head with a stiletto and spending the weekend in jail, that sort of thing...and when talking about their relationship it was, hard as this is to believe, said that "This incident has not helped".

Huh? What couple is not helped by a little domestic violence and jail time? Maybe they should enter the world of soccer fandom where a little well-timed hooliganism is appreciated!
