It is a fairly typical scene. A couple oldsters, he being 76, she being 81, are chatting it up in the smoking area. And, being young and feisty, they get in an argument.
Now, by this point in life one would think several alternatives have come up for how to deal with conflict. You can do any of the following;
- walk away. By creating space you alleviate the intenseness of the conflict and create an atmosphere where reason overcomes emotion.
- talk it out. By discussion using facts, logic, and reason it is possible to arrive at a mutually satisfactory conclusion.
- strike her in the head with a hammer. Quick, effective, possibly final. I know which one I would choose....
