A few days ago I went out on a limb and moved soccer fans down a rung on list of "ridiculous behavior in pursuit of enjoying a leisure activity". This seemed quite reasonable...after all, hikers die on the mountain, Indian cricket fans offer up their kidneys to see a game, hockey dads beat each other, sometimes to death, basketball coaches teach their kids to "sack up" by having them grab themselves...there is a LOT of competition for "group of fans least likely to realize following a sport should be a leisure activity that does not lead to death or jailtime".
Fortunately for lovers of one of the world's more popular games, 42 year old German males apparently heard of their falling level in my book of esteem and promptly acted to rectify that oversight.
Seems there was a game involving 8 year olds, so clearly it is an important game of lasting import. One of the kids committed a soccer foul...it is unclear if that means he did not completely consume his quarter orange slice or failed to fake an injury when someone slid near him....but this foul so enraged soccer pop that he unleashed a karate attack on the offender.
Uh...okay. Well done, soccer dude. Now here is why soccer rules: though I mock it often, the truth is I LOVE soccer. For good reason. See, in some parts of the world if a 42 year old man unleashed his ninja-like karate skills upon a hapless 8 year old child it would be considered child abuse and great difficulties would ensue for the jerk. But in soccer world,
"The boy suffered bruising and grazes but was otherwise unharmed, police said.
It was unclear if the man would be charged over the incident, the spokesman said."
After all, since no rioting, looting, or hooliganism followed...does this even qualify as an incident?

slope, 2300ish yards. 6 par 4s, 3 par 3s, par 33 course. I have played it

I think they should, as punishment, throw this guy into a ring with 50 8-year-olds and see how he does :)
