Certain people seem to be unhappy unless they are in the news. That is why many "pundits" claim Britney shaved her head. Watch for overweight stick Nicole Ritchie...recent reports might have her gaining 3 or 4 ounces...to do something stupid soon, same with Paris Hilton. If they aren't being talked about they don't feel important and have to get noticed.
Another fine example might be Al Sharpton. If he isn't commiserating with (alleged) murderers (O.J.), (alleged) pedophiles (Michael Jackson) or other criminals who should be excused not because they aren't guilty but because their heinous acts are only being prosecuted then he is out telling people who merely living their own lives how racist they are.
Well, he had not been in the news for a few weeks. That is intolerable. So now he is letting us know that in the past his ancestor may or may not have been owned by an ancestor of Strom Thurmond.
Uhm...okay. And this is relevant how? Mildly interesting perhaps...but not really relevant.
Yes, slavery was a horrible thing in the past of our country...of England...of Mexico...of Spain...how come you don't hear much of Argentinians and Bolivians demanding reparations from the Spanish? How about the Pueblans going after the Spanish for all the damage they did?
Simply put...it is 130 years in the past at best...and a significant amount more with more frequency than otherwise.
Let
it
go.
It is over. Done with.
Frnakly, if events from a century and a half ago are preventing you from having a good life then you, frankly, are an idiot. There is every opportunity for any person in this country to create a good life for themselves...or to create a bad life out of good possibilities. And if you find some interaction between families 3,4,5 or more generations ago relevant...well...frankly, maybe news on Paris Hilton IS important after all. At least, it is in comparison to you...
