For quite some time it has been obvious that athletes are getting ridiculous. Even before the steroid "scandals" people were getting bigger, stronger, faster, quicker...partially by better nutritional choices and partially by better training. Then came the steroids. People bulked up and healed unnaturally quickly. Statures became impossible with heads swollen to the size of small pumpkins and arms to match. In the search to reach the next stage of heightened training people have gone so far as to sleep in oxygen tents meant to recreate high altitude...a move so "controversial" to fans of cycling that the governing body is talking of outlawing it. In other words, people will go to almost any extreme to gain an advantage.
I think the University of Oklahoma has finally gone too far. I don't have all the information but I can only assume they have installed some sort of small personal motors on their players. I must stress, this is information I have extrapolated from a news report in the Oregonian. All you need to know can be learned from the following headline that was in the Oregonian yesterday.
"Univeristy of Oklahoma puts brakes on their players." No word yet on whether Midas was retained for maintenance purposes.

Almost as good as the headline I saw a couple of weeks ago: "Fatal Tour Boat Unsafe."
