Leadership by example

"This generation has watched the slaughter in Cambodia. This generation has watched in the slaughter in Rwanda. We will not watch the slaughter in Darfur," said Lantos, who's a Holocaust survivor.
I am grateful that some leaders are willing to protest. That is an excellent start. But it is not enough. The slaughter is not over in many of the referenced places, nor in many other places. And protests are nice for raising awareness, now take the next step. As stupid and pointless as I find "non-binding resolutions" to be, lets make one anyway. Let's get pictures on the news, blanket reports that replace the "meth war", and really make sure everyone KNOWS what is going on. lets have the marches, protests, drum beating, and whatever it takes to get the world, if we are going to roam around interfering, to interfere here. And lets do it now.

Tom Lantos is awesome...I covered him at the San Mateo paper and he always stuck up for the underdog on smaller issues, too.
