The Native American Film Festival

Ah, had I known this before, you can bet I would be road-tripping this weekend...The first Northwest Indigenous Film Festival, a touring retrospective of local and international Native American filmmakers, will make its Seattle stop this weekend at two venues.
I am not sure who is sponsoring it, that was not clear to me. But if anyone knows of a Portland or Salem stop, please let me know. The Wounded Knee documentary is of particular interest.
I have always found it hilarious that Russell Means went from violent activist leader to the voice of Powhatan in "Pocohontas". His work with AIM was impressive, including his part in the occupation of Wounded Knee in '73. To see him turn from that to a film career, particularly one where he could be conceived as a "sell-out" for his portrayal of Powhatan is something worth investigating. It is so different from the Means presented in The New Indian and in In the Spirit of Crazy Horse but in a way it speaks to the success of the movement.
Still, I would just like to see and talk to the people who lived through those events.
