Who has not been insulted in their life? Religious groups in this country are insulted every day. Smurf, I myself crack hard on the catholics and mormons, not to mention occasional Jehovah's witless blasts. Many other groups are insulted every day in this country.
"Liberals" blast "conservatives" who blast "liberals" who blast "moderates" who blast "conservatives" who blast...well, you get the point.
Insults are hurled over creation/evolution, homosexuality, baby whacking, medicare/caid, education, and many other things besides religion. Trade agreements, for example.
And while, to be sure, the WTO protestors got in some good quality recreational rioting (and yes, it does severely devalue the value of your protest against commercialism and trade when you use that as cover to score a new free tv), for the most part, the most passion shown by people in this country is to shout a little more stridently and come up with "your mama" jokes thinly disguised as aspersions on the intellect of the opposition.
We don't even come up to the level of soccer fans in England and Europe. They at least have the occasional brawl or riot where 2 or 3 people die.
Is it more amazing or scary the passion demonstrated by Muslims over some cartoons? If religious people in this country ever demonstrate that kind of passion about their beliefs, this world will change in a hurry. Let's just hope the passages people wake up and get passionate about are the ones like "The Fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, and self control" and "The wisdom that comes from above is first pure, then peacable...", because those are causes worth being passionate about.
Meanwhile, when someone insults you, maybe you should follow the Muslim model and go break stuff. Except in this country, that gig is already taken by WTO protestors.
