I wrote nice pieces on a couple of things and they did not post. Grr. 45 minutes on one, a half hour on another. Time I will never get back.
That is the thing about this life. I don't believe in reincarnation, and if I am correct that means one and done. Every second that passes is gone forever. I know many people fight the supposedly "western" concept of time as linear...but do you know anyone who used to be 27 and is now TRULY 25? We might know someone who SAYS they are 25 when we know good and well they are 41, but the fact is...once you turn three you can never be two again.
If the days are spent wisely this brings no regret. And if the time was miserable, few of us would want to relive them. I know I have no desire to watch Mom having morphine pumped through her again. She was a wonderful parent but some parts of her life...once was enough.
When something happens that wipes out sections of the past it is perhaps one of the greatest tragedies a person can face. Sure, we can correct mistakes, but we can never get back the time it took to do it in the first place or correct it in the second. At the risk of sounding like a smarmy, time-wasting motivational speaker...I hope we all make the most of the time we have.
